Obituary, Alda Azevedo

Alda Azevedo passed away Monday, December 19, 2022 at Danbury Hospital at the age of 90.
 
Born in Mount Vernon, NY on April 24, 1932, she was the daughter of Felix and Mary (Pais) Reyes.  Her family moved to Monsey, NY, and later she moved to Pleasantville, NY in 1965, and in 1994 she moved to Pawling, NY where she and her family lived until 2118, when she moved to Brookfield, CT.  On September 2, 1950, she married Nestor Azevedo in Mount Vernon; he predeceased her on December 9, 2003.
 
Before retiring, Alda worked as a bank manager for the former Bank of New York in White Plains.
 
Alda loved gardening and was an accomplished seamstress, making many of her own clothes.  She was an avid reader and loved cooking and baking and going to the Pawling Senior Center.  But most of all, she loved being with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
 
She is survived by her son, Martin, and wife Melissa of Pawling and daughter Laura Jeney and husband Stephen of Rollinsville, CO; her four grandchildren, William and wife Stephanie, Stephen, Elizabeth, and Francine; two great-grandchildren, Joseph and Julia; and several nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brother Felix Jr and sisters Maria and Anna.
 
Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, December 21st from 4-7 PM at the Horn & Thomes, Inc Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling.  A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 10 AM, with burial following in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
 
In lieu of flowers, donations in Memory of Alda may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
