PRESS RELEASE

The New York State Police announce the arrest of Daniel O McKoy, age 30, most recently of Marin County California, for Criminal possession of a Weapon 2nd and Unlawful Imprisonment 1st, both felonies, as well as Criminal Possession of Marihuana 4th, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th, Assault 3rd, Reckless Endangerment 2nd, Menacing 2nd and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, all misdemeanors.

McKoy was extradited back to Sullivan County from California where he had fled following an incident that occurred in Wurtsboro on February 4, 2012. On that date, it is alleged that McKoy, believing that a neighbor had stolen a large quantity of marihuana from his apartment, imprisoned that neighbor against his will at gunpoint demanding the return of said marihuana. Neighbors, observing what was happening, contacted the State Police who arrived shortly thereafter. Upon their arrival, McKoy fled into the woods and was not immediately apprehended. A subsequent search of McKoys residence turned up a large quantity of marihuana and several weapons including the weapon used against his neighbor. McKoy eventually made his way to California where he recently came to the attention of local law enforcement, was taken into custody and was returned to the State of New York.

McKoy was arraigned before Town of Fallsburg Town Justice MJ Carroll who remanded McKoy to the Sullivan County Jail on no bail to return to Sullivan County Court on 04/24/15 at 10:00am.
