Obituary, Pamela Poole Ross

On Sunday, October 16, 2022, Pamela Poole Ross, loving partner, mother of three, devoted “GrandPam” to her three cherished grandchildren, passed away.

Born on May 21, 1949, in New York, NY to Raymond and Barbara (Moore) Poole. She graduated from Hicksville (NY) High School, and Rivier College in Nashua, NH.

A resident of Pawling for over 40 years, Pam was well-known in the community from her time taking her boys to hockey games, serving on the Pawling School Board and member of Christ Church on Quaker Hill.

The last 25 years of her professional life with Cartus, a corporate relocation company, provided her with the opportunity to travel extensively and work on many interesting projects and with varied companies. Her time spent at Cartus was rewarding, both professionally and personally.

Family and friends were her priority. Pam had many passions and talents which she shared willingly. Pam was known for her quick wit, kind and compassionate spirit. She was a gifted writer and storyteller, and she had a lot of stories. Pam made the most mundane days special whether having lunch with her grandchildren at Picnic Rock or a spur of the moment dinner for 20. Pam was accomplished at needlework, knitting, cross-stitch and quilting – the more challenging the project the better.

When Pam wasn’t in the garden or on the ski slopes she was traveling to destinations around the world, planning the next trip before the current one ended. Travels to India, China, Tibet, Argentina, Columbia, Iceland were as much of an adventure to her as visits to US National Parks or Maine. Cape Cod was her favorite, her true happy place. Hers was a life well lived!

Her father Raymond, and mother, Barbara, preceded Pam in death. She is survived by her life partner Shaun Cunningham, children Rebekah, Matthew & Clifford “Rigg” Ross; grandchildren: Eliza, Polly and Abel Ross. Siblings Debbie, Ray “Kit”, Lisa and stepbrother Steve.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Christ Hill on Quaker Hill, Pawling, NY at 12:00pm.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Ryan McElroy Children’s Cancer Foundation, 450 Gardner Hollow Rd, Poughquag, NY 12570.
