Pawling Rotary Invites Potential New Members to Lunch!

On October 25th, the Pawling Rotary Club hosted a dozen potential new members at a luncheon at the Lathrop Center at Lakeside Park. Community members who had expressed interest in learning about the club, what its members do, and how they accomplish all they do for the community, were invited to enjoy a luncheon prepared by Vinny’s Deli and Pasta, and listen to a program prepared by Rotary President Susan Stone and Rotarians Earl Crawford and John Ammaturo. While Ms. Stone spoke enthusiastically about the club’s annual projects and fundraising efforts, Mr. Crawford spoke about Rotary International, its Charitable Foundation, and the many ways that it effectuates positive change globally. Mr. Ammaturo, who mentors teens in the Pawling Interact Cub, spoke to the relationship between Pawling Rotary, the Interact students and Rotary’s partnership with Pawling Recreation, as Interact teens learn about leadership and giving back to their community.

Guests in attendance were invited to attend additional meetings, when Rotary members plan future events, so that potential new members may determine whether the Rotary Club is the venue through which they can satisfy their desire to become more involved in community service.

Ms. Stone spoke in detail about the many activities that benefit the community throughout the Rotary Year, which begins on July 1. She also spoke about the camaraderie experienced by the membership and the great pleasure they derive through “doing good in their world.” Further, she spoke at length about their fundraising efforts. Specifically, she announced, “The club raises and then gives away more than $20,000 annually to scholarships and organizations in Pawling that support community youngsters as well as donating to Rotary International’s Foundation that benefits children and families globally.”

Several guests expressed interest in returning to learn more, and Pawling Rotarians are looking forward to welcoming them.
