Obituary, Heriberto Segarra

Heriberto Segarra, 58, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 16, 2022.

Born on October 16, 1963, he was born and raised in Yonkers, NY.  During his life, he attended public schools in Yonkers and was employed for over 30 years as an offshore oil rig crew member, worked in machine operation, and truss assembly around the country.

He was predeceased by his parents, Heriberto and Mary (Cook) Segarra.

Known to his family and friends as “Eddie”, “Big Ed”, “Bruzo” and “The King”, he is survived by his “Queen” Kathryn and six sons, Heriberto, Stephen, Edward, John, Thomas, and Benjamin; his two granddaughters, Penelope and Charlie; his sister Mary Williford nee Segarra; and a loving extended family, all who meant the world to him.

He was nephew, cousin, uncle, and friend to many, who he loved with all his heart and would do anything he could for them.

He had the greatest passion for sports of all kinds and his greatest pastime was watching and participating in play with his boys on and off the field.  He was a mentor to many over his lifetime who will always cherish his determination, lessons, and spirit of the games.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, July 19th from 4-8 PM at the Horn & Thomes, Inc Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 AM at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donation to go towards a memorial plaque to be placed at his youngest son Benjamin’s high school football field to be a reminder of his presence for all that he will always be Ben’s Number 1 fan and will always have a place to watch for future generations to come.  Monetary donations in any form can be made to ”Benjamin Segarra” and be given or mailed to Horn & Thomes, Inc 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY who will forward to the family.
