Details:

Arts Mid-Hudson (formerly the Dutchess County Arts Council) will present grant awards totaling over $97,000 to artists and organizations throughout Dutchess, Orange and Ulster Counties. The grant awards will be made in three categories – Project Grants, Individual Artist Commission, and Artist in Residence/Public School Grants at an open awards reception held at The Barn at Buttermilk Falls. These awards are made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by Arts Mid-Hudson.

39 Community-based Project Grants will receive funding in 2015, serving an estimated audience of over 50,000 people. Project Grants support the arts and cultural activities of non-profit groups, organizations and artists in Dutchess, Orange and Ulster Counties. Recipients can be found from Rhinebeck to Beacon, Poughkeepsie to Wassaic, Warwick to Newburgh, Shandaken to Kingston and many more. These include professional and community based arts activities benefiting the general public in theater, dance, music, film, video, literature, visual arts, historical and cultural activities, and the use of libraries and museums as venues for the arts. Project grant programs are designed to serve all ages and ethnically diverse populations from all geographic areas of all three counties.

Arts Mid-Hudson is excited to be able to include four Individual Artist Commission Grants in the 2015 Awards. This grant program supports the creation of new work by an individual artist, which involves the community as context for creating the work. This year’s recipients include Nestor Madalengoitia, “100 Portraits of Poughkeepsie’s Middle-Main” and Karen Michel, “Stories To Go” in Dutchess County, Judy Thomas, “MATRIX” in Orange County and Keiko Sono, “Disappearing Pond Project” in Ulster County.

Artist in Residence/Public School Grants support in-school residencies by artists and/or cultural organizations, and focus on sequential, skill based knowledge. Seven projects were approved for funding to take place during 2015. Projects include visual arts, dance and theatre among others.

A full list of recipients for each category can be found at the bottom of the release. Please RSVP prior to Friday, May 1st by calling: 845.454.3222
