Valatie, New York – On April 22, 2022, the New York State Police in conjunction with the Columbia County Child Advocacy Center arrested Ruben Martinez Cruz, age 32, of Valatie, for Criminal Sexual Act in the 1^st degree, a class B felony.

Subsequent to a law enforcement tip, Investigators from SP Livingston and the Columbia County Child Advocacy Center determined Martinez Cruz sexually assaulted a victim under the age of eleven-years-old.

Martinez Cruz was arraigned before the village of Kinderhook court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or bond.  He is next scheduled to appear before the court on May 17, 2022, at 6:00 p.m.
