Obituary, David West Varian, Sr.

David West Varian, Sr., 80, known to his family and friends as the “Coyote”, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, NY.
A resident of Patterson, NY since 1989, he was born in Mount Vernon, NY on January 22, 1942 to Clarence Park Varian and Rosella May West.  He graduated from Scarsdale High School.  Prior to his retirement, he was an operating engineer for Visage Construction in Germantown, NY.
Coyote was a voracious reader and enjoyed watching old movies; he was also an avid writer and had written more than 27 journals.  He had a lifelong love of motorcycles.  He was proud and grateful for his three children, and his grandchildren.  He was extremely humbled by and grateful for his 35 years of sobriety.
He will be greatly missed and remembered for his wisdom, wit, and generosity.
He is survived by his son David West Varian, Jr. and wife Shannon, of Westtown, NY and his two daughters, Rachael Ann Varian of Brookfield, CT, and Claire Elaine Varian-Deacon and husband, Thomas, of Patterson, NY; and his two granddaughters Morgan and Madison, and grandsons Liam, Tristan, Ronan and Fox.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Edythe.
At this time the family is planning a small private service for which a date has yet to be set.  In lieu of flowers it was his wish to have donations made in his memory to High Watch Recovery Center, PO Box 607, Kent, CT. 06757 Phone 860-927-3772.
