Obituary
Santiago Rodriguez, age 81, of Wingdale, NY, passed away on February 8, 2022 at his home with his family by his side.
“Santy” was born on November 6, 1940, in La Coruña, Spain. He was the son of Ernesto and Josefa Rodriguez. The family moved to New York City in 1951 when Santy was the age of 10. He attended a vocational high school where he trained to become an electrician. He married his wife of 57 years, Antoinette, “Toni”, in 1964 and they moved to West Harrison (Silver Lake), NY. He served in the Army and received an honorable discharge in 1965. They moved to Valhalla, NY in 1966 where they raised three sons, Jimmy, Michael, and Vincent. His career as an electrician extended to become the bridge electrician on the Tappan Zee Bridge for 30 years.
Santy enjoyed gardening, hunting, traveling, Spanish soccer and spending time with his family. He was known for being generous with his time and energy. He was always on the move, whether working on a project at home or helping a friend or family member who was in need.
Santy is survived by his loving wife, Antoinette, three sons, James (Donna), Michael (Mayra), and Vincent (Tracy), seven grandchildren (in age order), Jennifer, Daniel (Megan), Michael (Nicole), Leanna, Victoria, Andrew and Connor, and two great-grandchildren, Matthew, and Greyson. He is also survived by his older brother Ernesto Rodriguez.
His generosity will extend beyond his time with us as he made a significant personal contribution to Parkinson’s research with the hope that he might reduce the suffering of others in the future.
