Obituary

Gordon L. Strang, 74, a lifelong resident of Dover Plains, NY, died on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY. Born on August 2, 1947, in Sharon, CT, he was the son of the late George and Alyce (Sina) Strang. He was a 1966 graduate of Dover High School in Dover Plains, NY. From 1967 to 1973, he proudly served in the United States Navy as an aviation mechanic at various air stations in Japan, Vietnam, and Honolulu, Hawaii. On September 16, 1967, in Dover Plains, NY, he married Bonnie Coons who survives at home.

Mr. Strang worked as a plumber/steamfitter at Taconic DDSO in Wassaic, NY. He was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Dover Plains. His joy was watching his three grandsons play at various sports and following their education. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being outdoors in nature. Overall, he enjoyed his life and lived it contentedly his own way.

Besides his wife of 54 years, he is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Strang-Thrasher of Wassaic, NY; his sister, Pamela Rabideau of Dover Plains, NY and three grandsons, Andrew, LeShawn and Teyvon Thrasher. He is also survived by a niece, Laura Harvey; a nephew, Mark Rabideau and three grandnieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
