Obituary, Elaine Frances Ford

Elaine Frances Ford, 83, a resident of Pawling for the past 52 years, passed away peacefully at her home, November 18, 2021, surrounded by family.

Born in Brooklyn on October 1, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Rita Rose (Rinello) Pellegrino.  She and her husband, Gene Ford, owned and operated Gene’s 1900, a food and beverage establishment “down by the tracks” in Wingdale, NY for 34 years. Her husband Gene passed away in 1980.  Elaine is also predeceased by her first husband, James Topping, her sister Rita, and brother Tony.

Elaine loved cooking, using her cooking ability to cater many events.  She loved gardening and belonged to the Pawling Garden Club. Elaine had also been a Girl Scout leader.  She loved decorating, bowling, socializing, dancing, vacationing in warm, tropical locations, skiing, both water and snow, and she especially loved indulging her grandchildren.

Elaine was a member of Christ Church on Quaker Hill and an 8-year member of the Hotel & Restaurant Association.

She is survived by her sister Fran Brugarella and husband, Steve, of Pawling; her three children, Michael Ford of Florida, Suzanne Ford Mayette of Pawling, and Eugene Ford of Poughquag; four grandsons, David of Wingdale, Justin of Tennessee, and Zachary & Eric, both of Poughquag; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, Sunday, November 21st 7-9 PM and Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at Christ Church on Quaker Hill Tuesday at 10 AM.  Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Pawling.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Memory of Elaine may be made to Christ Church, 17 Church Road, Pawling, NY 12564 or St. John’s Church, 39 East Main Street, Pawling, NY 12564.
