14th Annual Pawling Resource Center Walk-a-thon Slated for September 18th

14th Annual Pawling Resource Center Walk-a-thon Slated for September 18th

The Pawling Resource Center is prepping for their 14th annual FUN-draiser Walk, which has lots of moving parts, and is much anticipated! This year’s Walk-a-thon will be held on Saturday, September 18, and will once again prove to be a day of friendship and well wishes for the continued success of one of Pawling’s most appreciated not-for-profits.

The Walk-a-thon, traditionally titled “Walk So They May Ride,” is the single live fundraising event for the PRC. Registration at the Pawling Resource Center grounds will begin at 11am, and the walk will begin at 11:30, traveling through the village and back. Following the walk, a celebratory Bar-B-Que will be held on the lawn of the John Kane house, with prizes, music and camaraderie.

This event brings the community together each year to raise funds for the transportation services that the PRC offers as one of their signature programs. These services provide rides to medical appointments for Pawling residents, rides to access food through shopping and visiting the PRC’s Food Pantry, and organizes food delivery to those who are unable to leave home to shop, all with the help of volunteer drivers. The PRC also maintains an active Food Pantry, and a medical equipment loan program.

The Resource Center encourages walkers to form teams to raise money for this effort. The team that raises the most will win a basket of fun and useful goodies to share among team members. Additionally, single walkers may raise money by soliciting donations for their effort, with a prize basket waiting for the winner of this category. Information about forming teams, and all registration forms, may be found at pawlingresourcecenter.org, or by picking up at the PRC at 126 East Main Street in Pawling. Pre-registration by contacting the PRC or signing up on-line helps streamline the process at the event!

Local businesses may show their support by becoming Event Sponsors, and the business name will be included on banners and lawn signs at the event. Event sponsors should submit their donation or pledge by Friday, September 10, in order to be included in signage.

This year, all walkers will receive a PRC sun visor to keep the rays or raindrops out of one’s eyes during this rain or shine event, and pups are, as usual, welcome to walk with best friends. All pups will receive a Woof-Woof bag of toys and treats, courtesy of the event committee. The Bar-B-Que lunch is being donated, once again, by Jeremy Busolt and friends, and The Rivals will be entertaining with live, fun music.

Information about the Walk-a-thon is available at www.pawlingresourcecenter.org or by calling 845 855-3459 to learn the many ways in which to support this endeavor. Join us for a day of fun and friendship to show your support for an organization that provides so much for our community.
