DCC Unveils Educational Hangar
at Hudson Valley Regional Airport

This afternoon, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro joined Dutchess Community College (DCC) Acting President Dr. Ellen Gambino and members of the DCC Board of Trustees as the school unveiled its educational hangar at Hudson Valley Regional Airport, which will be utilized by students in the college’s expanding aviation program.

County Executive Molinaro said, “Dutchess County Government’s partnership with Dutchess Community College is soaring to new heights with the opening of the new Aviation Center at our own Hudson Valley Regional Airport! The County’s investment of nearly $8 million to build the education hangar is part of a multi-prong strategy focused on increasing enrollment at DCC and creating a pipeline to new jobs. The new aviation center offers students the opportunity to gain in-demand skills for high-paying jobs while serving as magnet to attract aviation maintenance and related businesses to locate at the HVRA where they can take advantage of a skilled workforce.”

The nearly 32,000-square-foot facility will provide a state-of-the-art learning environment for DCC aviation students, as well as experiential lab space for a fixed-base operator and maintenance facility serving the airport. The project received an additional $7.1 million from the SUNY Capital Fund and $1.5 million from Empire State Development.

Classes for the College’s new aviation maintenance technician program begins August 16 while pilot and aviation management instruction begins August 23.
