Obituary,Gloria Marie ‘Cookie’ Bishop

Gloria Marie ‘Cookie’ Bishop of Pawling, NY, died at Putnam Ridge Nursing Home on Friday June 18, 2021.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on March 8, 1944, Cookie was one of nine children born to the late John and Peggy (Miller) Kane. She was raised and lived in Brooklyn until she moved to Putnam Lake – previously her summer vacation getaway – when she was 28. She lived in Putnam Lake for 30 years before moving to Wingdale and then Pawling each for an additional ten years.

Cookie was a mainly a homemaker, but she did pursue various occupations to support her children, including working at Green Chimneys in Brewster.

A stubborn, but kind-hearted woman who collected dolls, Cookie was also known to be outgoing, have a great sense of humor, and a big sweet tooth. She loved to make changes, bringing interest to even the mundane. Her greatest joy was in the love of her 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Cookie is survived, not only by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren but by her children, Theresa Farese (Blaise) of Wilmington, NC, Gloria Raefski of Poughkeepsie, NY, Francis Raefski (Christina) of Pocomoke City, MD and Sean Bishop (Amy) of Patterson, NY. She was predeceased by her daughter Michelleigh Bishop in October 2010.

Visitation will be held at , 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY on Friday, June 25, 2021, from 4pm-7pm.
