Pawling Library Centennial June Honorees

Pawling Library Centennial June Honorees

By Susan Stone

Throughout the month of June, the Pawing Library will honor their founders who, in the early 1920’s brought the idea of a community, public library to life. Their vision and tenacity created what has grown into the thriving, popular community resource, upon which the community has come to depend and enjoy.

Among the names of those who served on the first Board of Trustees at the library’s inception are many of the recognizable family names that are a part of Pawling’s early history. The June Honorees are: Mr. Horace Henderson, President, Mrs. Genevieve Arnold, Secretary, Miss Ann Daniels, Treasurer, Mrs. Elizabeth Taber, Librarian, Mr. Coleman, Ruth Green, Mrs. Jay Hurd, Mrs. Horace Henderson, Mr. George A. Daniels, Mrs. Grace Coleman, Mrs. Jennie Green, Mrs. E. Cole, and Mrs. Tripp.

A display honoring the founders will be available in the library beginning June 1st.

Information about the library centennial can be found on Facebook at Pawling Library Centennial 1921-2021.
