Victims are awoken by a home intruder in Montrose

Cortlandt, New York – On January 27, 2021, the New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks arrested Darius McCallop, age 32, of Cortlandt, for Burglary in the 2nd degree, a class C felony, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th degree, a class E felony.

At approximately 3:07 a.m., Troopers were dispatched to James Street in the Montrose area of Cortlandt for a subject breaking into a residence.  The victims awoke in their bed to the sounds of a break-in and dialed 911.  The intruder fled the residence and was tracked by the responding Troopers in the freshly fallen snow.  The suspect was located on Catherine Street and identified as Darius McCallop.  During arrest he was also found to be in possession of a stolen wallet containing approximately $782.00 in U.S. Currency.

McCallop was arraigned before the town of Cortlandt Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail.  He was scheduled to reappear before the Court on February 1, 2021.
