Pawling Rotary Members Make Annual Gifts with a Little Help from Their Friends!

By Susan Stone

Unable to hold either of their major fundraisers this year due to the pandemic, members of Pawling Rotary realized that they would be unable to fulfill their mission of supporting Pawling’s youth without help during the 2020 calendar year.

So, for the first time, this past November, the Pawling Rotary Club appealed to the Pawling Chamber of Commerce members for donations. Through the generosity of the Pawling business community and many individual community members, the Pawling Rotary Club was able to continue its tradition of gifting organizations dedicated to providing services to Pawling’s children, during the December holidays.

Although the Club’s annual gifts and grants fell short of those provided to recipients in 2019, Pawling Rotary was, nevertheless, able to provide assistance to the Ryan McElroy Foundation, Ty Campbell Foundation, Pawling Free Library, Pawling Recreation (Children’s and Teens’ programs), Pawling Fire Department, Pawling Resource Center, and the Smith Johnson Scout Cabin.

As the pandemic eases, Club members hope that their annual fundraisers will be able to resume, and that those organizations that support children beyond our community borders can again be included in Pawling Rotary’s annual grant/gift program later in 2021.
