PRESS RELEASE

On November 21, 2020 at 6:15 a.m. State Police Wurtsboro responded to a single vehicle crash on County Route 56 in Mountaindale. Troopers arrived at the scene and observed a 2011 Dodge Avenger lodged between several large trees. Initial investigation revealed that the Avenger was traveling south on County Route 56  at a high rate of speed when it crested a hill and lost control causing the vehicle to cross both lanes and leave the roadway on the west shoulder. The vehicle suffered extensive damage. The operator of the vehicle, John A. Delgado, age 21 was pronounced deceased at the scene. There were no passengers in the vehicle. This is an ongoing investigation. State police was assisted by Wurtsboro Fire Department.
