Yonkers man charged with identity theft

Cortlandt, New York – On April 17, 2015, the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Cortlandt barracks arrested Tory Washington, 41 years old, of Yonkers, New York, for Identity Theft 1st Degree, a Class D Felony.

Washington was arrested following an investigation into the fraudulent use of credit/debit cards belonging to a subject that had died in October of 2014. Investigation revealed that Washington was employed by the Montrose VA facility, where the deceased victim lived prior to his death. Washington made multiple fraudulent charges using the victim’s credit/debit cards throughout the Westchester County area.

To date, the charges have exceeded $13,000. The investigation into how the defendant obtained the victim’s credit/debit cards and social security number is continuing with assistance from the Montrose VA Police.

Washington was charged with Identity Theft-1st Degree and arraigned before the Town of Cortlandt Justice Court. Washington was remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail.
