Chatham man arrested for sexual abuse

Chatham, New York – On August 20, 2020, the New York State Police from the Livingston Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Lawrence R. Thomas, age 72, of Chatham, NY, for Sexual Abuse in the 1st degree, a class D felony, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor.

After receiving a law enforcement tip of possible sexual abuse an investigation revealed Lawrence Thomas sexually abused a victim under the age of thirteen-years-old.

Thomas was arraigned before the town of Livingston Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail.  He is next scheduled to appear before the town of Chatham Court on August 26, 2020, at 6:00 p.m.
