PRESS RELEASE

Southeast, New York – On April 19, 2015, New York State Police from the East Fishkill Barracks arrested Jose Ramirez, 27 years old, of Danbury, Connecticut, for Forgery 2nd Degree, a Class D felony, Falsifying Business Records 1st Degree, a Class E Felony, False Personation, a Misdemeanor, and Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor.

At approximately 3:20 a.m., Troopers patrolling Interstate 84 stopped the vehicle Ramirez was operating for traveling under 40 miles per hour in a posted 55 mile per hour zone. While Police conducted their investigation, it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated.

Ramirez provided police with the name and date of birth of another subject, knowingly misrepresenting his actual identity. He was arrested and issued tickets for DWI under the fictitious name he supplied police. Ramirez was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court and released on his own recognizance.

Shortly after Ramirez was released from police custody, it was discovered that he had given police the name “Rodriguez” to avoid arrest. By providing police with an altered name, he forged and created false business records at the East Fishkill station. Troopers located Ramirez at a nearby plaza and charged him with Forgery 2nd Degree, a Class D felony, Falsifying Business Records 1st Degree, a Class E Felony, and False Personation, a Misdemeanor.

Ramirez was arraigned in the Town of East Fishkill Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond. Ramirez is scheduled to appear in the Town of East Fishkill Court on April 22, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. He is also scheduled to appear before the Town of Southeast Court on the charges of DWI on May 23, 2015.
