State Police are investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 84 in the town of Montgomery

On June 24, 2020 at approximately 3:03 p.m. state police from the Middletown and Montgomery barracks responded to Interstate 84 eastbound in the town of Montgomery near exit 28 (old exit number 5)  for a single vehicle crash. Initial investigation revealed that a 2020 Mack truck, operated by David Harp, age 72 of Slate Hill, NY, experienced a tire blowout causing the vehicle to exit the roadway on the right shoulder. The truck traveled into a grassy shoulder and traveled approximately 1000 feet into a wooded area striking several trees before coming to rest. The truck became engulfed in flames. Maybrook/Montgomery Fire Department arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. The operator of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. This is an ongoing investigation. State Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident are asked to call the State Police Middletown at 845-344-5300.
