...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 800 PM EDT
FOR NORTHWESTERN LITCHFIELD...SOUTHERN BERKSHIRE...NORTHEASTERN
DUTCHESS AND SOUTHEASTERN COLUMBIA COUNTIES...
At 736 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Becket to near Pine Plains, moving east at 45
mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include...
Great Barrington, Lee, Copake, Sheffield, Pine Plains, Becket,
Norfolk, Otis, Ancram, Canaan, Millerton, Sandisfield, Falls Village,
Housatonic, Ashley Falls, Salisbury, Stockbridge, New Marlborough,
Monterey and Washington.

INSTRUCTIONS: A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM EDT for northern
Connecticut...western Massachusetts...and east central New York.
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northwestern Connecticut, the
mid-Hudson Valley and the eastern Catskills in eastern NY.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.

There is an Enhanced Risk for severe thunderstorms this afternoon
into early this evening. The main threats will be damaging winds of
58 mph or greater and heavy rainfall.

Some poor drainage flooding of low lying areas and ponding of water
on roadways is possible with any thunderstorms.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

The probability for widespread hazardous weather is low.

Spotter activation will likely be needed this afternoon into tonight
while following all local, state and CDC guidelines.
