*UPDATED* Serious crash on the Taconic State Parkway in Pleasant Valley

Pleasant Valley, New York – On March 4, 2020, at approximately 8:15pm, the New York State Police responded to the Taconic State Parkway just south of exit 54, U.S. Highway 44, for a report of a serious motor vehicle crash.  Investigation revealed a 2019 Mercedes Sprinter, operated by Jim George, age 42, of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, was driving north in the southbound lanes and struck a 2017 Subaru Impreza.  Mr. George was transported to Vassar Brothers Hospital, and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The operator of the Subaru Impreza, Connor T. Smedes, age 27, and his passenger Catherine J. Torrisi, age 27, both of Carmel, NY, were transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital.  Mr. Smedes was later air-lifted to Westchester Medical Center with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The State Police were assisted at the scene by the Pleasant Valley Fire Department.

The Taconic State Parkway southbound will be closed south of Exit 54 (US Hwy 44) due to the motor vehicle crash for a significant period of time.  Estimated time to reopening is approximately 2 hours.  Please avoid the area.
