Arrest of a 51 year old Brewster woman for possession of alleged crack cocaine

Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. reports the arrest of a 51 year old Brewster woman for possession of alleged crack cocaine. On November 2, 2019, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Deputy Thomas Curran observed a 2002 Oldsmobile commit a traffic violation on Danbury Road in the Town of Southeast. Deputy Curran conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and interviewed the driver and passengers. During his roadside interview, Deputy Curran observed several pieces of drug paraphernalia on the floor of the vehicle. A subsequent investigation revealed that one of the passengers, now known as Katherine H. Shanahan, was found to be in possession of an amount of suspected crack cocaine. Deputy Curran placed Ms. Shanahan under arrest and charged her with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree. (Misdemeanor).The driver of the vehicle was issued several traffic summonses and released. Deputy Curran transported Ms. Shanahan to The Putnam County Correctional Facility where she was processed and released on her own recognizance pending a future court date in the Town of Southeast Court.
