UPDATED: Two-Car Fatality in Pawling Under Investigation

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the investigation into a two-car fatal car crash, which occurred on Route 55 near Highland Dr in the Town of Pawling at approximately 11:30 pm on 9/22/19.

Preliminary investigation has shown that a 2010 Jeep operated by Jorge Rivera (age 44 of Poughkeepsie) was traveling westbound on Route 55 when it was struck head-on by a 2017 Honda Ridgeline operated by Robin Shenitsky (age 62 of Pawling). Mrs. Shenitsky was pronounced dead at the scene, and Mr. Rivera was transported via ambulance to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Both operators were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles.

The investigation is continuing by the Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit, and at this time the primary factor appears to be failure to keep right on the part of Mrs. Shenitsky. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, the Town of Pawling Fire Department, and the Dutchess County Medical Examiner. At this time no charges have been filed, and more information may be released as it becomes available. Anyone with information about the crash is urged to speak with Deputy Wilber or Deputy LeMere at 845-486-3800, or to contact the Sheriff’s Office tipline at 845-605-2583 or dcsotips@gmail.com. All information will be kept confidential.
