Brewster Man Charged With Petit Larceny
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Brewster man on a charge of petit larceny.
On April 9, 2015, Deputy Sheriff Andrew Kristan responded to the Home Depot store located at 80 Independent Way in the Town of Southeast for a report of a shoplifter in custody of security staff. The deputy determined that John A. Tomassetti, 53, of 12 Elmwood Drive, Brewster had taken merchandise and left the store without paying. The deputy arrested Mr. Tomassetti and charged him with Petit Larceny, a misdemeanor. The defendant was processed and released pending a March 7, 2015 appearance in the Town of Southeast Justice Court to answer the charge.
If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
