Two men traveling back to the New York City area arrested for drug possession in Claverack

Claverack, New York – On May 23, 2019, the New York State Police from the Livingston barracks arrested Benjamin C. Meyer, age 24, of Brooklyn, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th degree, a class C felony, Tampering with Physical Evidence, a class E felony, four counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7thdegree, a class A misdemeanor, and Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 5th degree, a class B misdemeanor, and Zachary Costantini, age 20, of Levittown, NY, for two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th degree, three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, and Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 5th degree.

At approximately 4:50 p.m., a Trooper conducted a traffic stop of a 2019 Chevrolet on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of Claverack for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law.  Investigation revealed the occupants possessed approximately 1.4 grams of Psilocybin Mushrooms, 140 grams of edible marijuana, 54 grams of marihuana, 65 LSD dosages, 2.75 grams LSD candy, 2.6 grams of MDMA, 2 grams of Adderall, and 258 grams of concentrated cannabis.  During this incident, Meyer attempted to tamper with evidence to avoid prosecution.

Both subjects were arraigned before the town of Claverack Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail by the Honorable Judge Brandon in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 secure bond.  They are next scheduled to appear before the Court on May 29, 2019, at 9:00 a.m.
