Three arrested in connection to a home invasion in Cortlandt

Cortlandt, New York – On May 15, 2019, the New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks responded to Lexington Avenue in the town of Cortlandt for a report of a home invasion and assault. An investigation found three individuals were involved in a confrontation involving weapons, including a knife and baseball bat, which resulted in one subject sustaining non-life-threatening stab wounds. On May 22, 2019, three arrests were subsequently made:
- An eighteen-year-old was arrested for Assault in the 2nd degree with intent to cause injury with a knife, a class D felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree, a class A misdemeanor.
- Bernardo Orozco, age 42, of Cortlandt, was arrested for Attempted Assault in the 2nd degree with a baseball bat, a class D felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree, a class A misdemeanor.
- Shakeal T. Tyler, age 27, of Ossining, NY, was arrested for Burglary in the 2nd degree, a class C felony.
All three subjects were arraigned before the town of Cortlandt Court. The eighteen-year-old was remanded to Westchester County in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or secured bond. Orozco was remanded to Westchester County Jail without bail, and Tyler was remanded in lieu of $7,500 cash bail or secure bond.
