Accidental death in Cortlandt

Cortlandt, New York – On April 28, 2019, the New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks investigated a fatal accident on Gallows Hill Road in the town of Cortlandt.
At approximately 12:00 noon, Troopers were dispatched to Gallows Hill Road in the town of Cortlandt for a report of a man fallen out of a tree. An investigation found Carlos M. Diaz, age 56, of Peekskill, NY, was employed by the homeowner for the purpose of tree trimming and came into contact with overhead power lines. Mr. Diaz was pronounced deceased on scene by the Westchester Medical Examiner’s Office.
The State Police were assisted on scene by Cortlandt EMS, Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office, Central Hudson Electric and Gas Company, and New York Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
