Wrong way crash on the Taconic State Parkway

New Castle, New York – On February 19, 2019, the New York State Police from the Hawthorne barracks arrested Andrew S. Elias, age 30, of Mount Pleasant, for Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor, and Reckless Driving, an unclassified misdemeanor.

At approximately 11:33 a.m., Troopers were dispatched to the area of Exit 8 on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of New Castle for a personal injury collision due to a wrong way driver.  Investigation found Elias operated his 2007 Mercedes-Benz C230 in a northbound direction in the southbound lanes of the parkway, and struck a southbound 2015 Honda CRV operated by John J. Maxwell, age 64, of Fishkill, NY.

Maxwell was taken to Westchester Medical Center for minor injuries.

Elias was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of New Castle Court on February 22, 2019, at 6:30 p.m.
