Dutchess County, New York – On Saturday, February 2, 2019, State Police conducted plain-clothes checks of twenty-two retail locations in Dutchess County that sell alcohol to ensure their compliance with New York State’s Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Law.  The enforcement initiative resulted in the arrest of one individual for violations of the ABC Law.

According to the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, underage drinking is associated with the three most common causes of death among youth, including accidental deaths (e.g., car crashes), homicides, and suicides.  The State Police will continue to conduct underage drinking enforcement details statewide in order to protect the citizens of NYS and its youth.

Kyle P. Oshea, age 22, of Poughkeepsie, NY, an employee of Hudson Plaza Wine and Spirits, 2585 South Road, Poughkeepsie, was arrested for Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage, and Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the 1st degree, both class A misdemeanors.

Oshea was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Poughkeepsie on February 21, 2019, at 4:00 p.m.
