On February 1st, 2019, Troopers from the State Police Wurtsboro barracks responded to a hit and run motor vehicle accident involving a school bus, that was stopped to discharge students on Burlingham Rd, in Bloomingbug, New York.  Troopers responded and an investigation revealed that a red Jeep Liberty had failed to stop for the flashing red lights of a stopped school bus, striking the bus while driving past.  No injuries were reported.  Subsequent investigation revealed that the Jeep was operated by Lydia Haug, age 24 of Bloomingburg, NY.  After striking the bus, Ms. Haug failed to stop for the motor vehicle accident and continued home.

On February 2, 2019, Troopers located Ms. Haug.  She was interviewed at SP Wurtsboro and issued tickets for overtaking a school bus, leaving the scene of a property damage auto accident, and crossing hazardous markings.  Further charges pending. The investigation is ongoing.
