LaGrange – Donald Raymond Chisamore, 77, of LaGrange, passed away in his sleep on January 17, 2019. Don was born on August 28, 1941, in West Carthage, New York. He was the son of Raymond W. & Jenny (Jane) Orendorff Chisamore.
Don earned a Bachelors and a Masters Degree at SUNY New Paltz was a Doctoral Candidate at SUNY Albany and received Fellowships at Pace, Mansfield, SUNY Oneonta, Vassar, and Marist.
While at New Paltz, he met and married Patricia Ann de Caprariis. They had two children, Barbara Ann & Brian Edward, and have two grandchildren, Marisa Alexis Cohen, and Matthew Dean Chisamore.
Don was 5th and 6th-grade teacher, teacher co-coordinator, teacher of the gifted and elementary summer school principal during his 36 years at Wappingers School District.
After retirement, Don studied music at SUNY New Paltz and played trombone with Switch in Time Big Band and the St. John’s Brass Ensemble.
Don is predeceased by his nephew, Dean and his brother Douglas. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, brother Dale, nieces Sheryl and Katie, nephews Michael and David, son-in-law Robert, daughter-in-law Jessica, sisters-in-law Joan, Patricia, and Nancy.
Calling Hours will be Tuesday, January 22, 2019, from 3 pm to 5 pm at 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at 11am at The Community Mausoleum C11 aml at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12602 followed by a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church OR Hudson Valley Hospice.
