Poughkeepsie woman charged with Felony Driving While Intoxicated following traffic stop

Claverack, New York – On April 5, 2015, New York State Police from the Livingston barracks arrested Christina M. Sharps, 27 years old, of Poughkeepsie, New York, for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a Felony, and False Personation, a Class B Misdemeanor.

Troopers stopped the vehicle Sharps was operating on State Route 9H for a vehicle and traffic violation. While conducting an interview of Sharps, she provided police with a family member’s name because she was driving while her New York State driving privileges were revoked.

While speaking with Sharps, Troopers noted clues that indicated she was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the stop.

Sharps was charged with Felony DWI after it was discovered that she was convicted of a DWI related offense within the last 10 years.

Sharps provided a positive breath sample that revealed a Blood Alcohol Content of .20% and was arraigned before the Town of Claverack Court. Sharps was remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $1,500 bond. She is scheduled to return to the Town of Claverack Court on April 14, 2015.
