Poughkeepsie man arrested for vehicular assault after a drunk driving crash in Lagrange

Lagrange, New York – On November 25, 2018, the State Police from SP Lagrangeville arrested Carlos M. Aguilar Breton, age 28, of Poughkeepsie, NY, for Driving While Intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor.  On November 26, 2018, Breton was arrested for Vehicular Assault in the 2nd degree, a class E felony, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, a class A misdemeanor.

On November 25, 2018, at approximately 8:10 p.m., Breton was traveling on State Route 55 west of Route 82 in the town of Lagrange in a 2015 BMW 528I, when he struck a 2005 Subaru Legacy head-on.  An investigation revealed that he was impaired by alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.  After further investigation, and the assessment of how serious the injuries sustained by the victim were, Aguilar Breton was additionally arrested for vehicular assault and possession of concentrated cannabis.

The victim was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital with serious but believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Aguilar Breton was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Lagrange Court on December 4, 2018, at 5:00 p.m.
