Pawling Pedestrian Plan Project to Hold Open House Event
Pawling – The Village of Pawling Pedestrian Plan project team will hold an open house on Wednesday, November 28 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at Village Hall (9 Memorial Avenue) to gather input from residents on issues related to pedestrian safety and access, and to discuss ways to make the Village more pedestrian-friendly.
“We encourage everyone to come to this open house,” said Mayor Rob Liffland. “Share your ideas for making Pawling safer and more accessible for walking. The more people we hear from, the better our pedestrian plan will be.”
A local Task Force is currently working with the Dutchess County Transportation Council (DCTC) on a Pedestrian Plan for the Village. The plan is intended to help the Village identify priorities, develop funding applications, and implement projects, and help agencies prioritize work on state, county, and local roads in the Village. The plan will focus on improving the Village’s walkable center to enhance safety and access for residents and visitors and will also address connections to important locations outside the center, including schools and parks.
Based on input received at this open house, presentations to local officials, and discussions with agencies like the Dutchess County Department of Public Works and the New York State Department of Transportation, the project team will develop a prioritized set of recommendations to improve walking in the Village.
