Shots fired in Cortlandt

Cortlandt, New York – On October 5, 2018, the New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks arrested John J. Magner III, age 38, of Cortlandt, for Reckless Endangerment in the 1^st degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3^rd degree, both class D felonies, Illegal Discharge of a Weapon, and Use of a Rifle in a Prohibited Area, both unclassified misdemeanors.

On October 5, 2018, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the New York State Police, Westchester County Police, and Peekskill Police officers responded to Dogwood Road in the town of Cortlandt for a report of shots fired.  An investigation determined Magner engaged in a dispute with a party known to him at his residence and fired two rounds from a Marlin .22 rifle.

Magner was arraigned before the town of Cortlandt Court, and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.  Magner was next scheduled to appear before the Court on October 11. 2018, at 9:00 a.m.
