State Police At Middletown Make Arrest In Identity Theft Case

On October 1, 2018, State Police at Middletown arrested Maxim Sander, age 28 of Middletown, NY after a lengthy identity theft investigation.  The investigation determined that Sander obtained merchandise and services using stolen credit information.  Sander is currently employed as a police officer in both the Towns of Mount Hope and Wallkill.

Sander was charged with Identity Theft 2nd Degree, a felony.  He was additionally charged with Scheme to Defraud 2nd Degree and Petit Larceny, both misdemeanors.  He was issued an appearance ticket returnable in the Town of Wallkill Court and released.  Additional arrests are expected in the case.  State Police were assisted in the investigation by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
