Annual Pawling Resource Center Walk-a-thon Scheduled for September 22nd

The 11th Annual Pawling Resource Center Walk-a-Thon is scheduled for September 22, with walkers teaming up to help raise funds in support of PRC programs, and most particularly, their transportation services. The PRC is encouraging a bit of friendly competition as it invites colleagues and co-workers to form teams to raise funds through support for individual participants. The team that raises the most money for the PRC will receive a grand prize that will be shareable with each team member. They will also offer a prize for the individual who raises the most dollars in support of their mission to help community members in need. The “Walk So They May Ride” event is the PRC’s major fundraiser.

Transportation services are a signature program of the Resource Center. This year, the PRC provided 928 seniors with transportation to their medical appointments, 340 rides to the grocery store and their food pantry, and delivered food to 28 homebound individuals. These numbers continue to grow annually. That is why it is “…crucial for us to raise the funds necessary to support these services,” said Terry Ariano, Executive Director. Ms. Ariano also indicated that corporate sponsorships for this event are being sought in support of PRC efforts to provide a much-needed safety net for Pawling families, children and seniors who need a helping hand.

Following the walk-a-thon, walkers and sponsors are invited to participate in a “Thank You For Your Support” Bar-B-Que on the grounds of the Resource Center at 126 East Main Street. Prizes will be awarded at this time.

Community members who wish to form a team, walk individually or become a sponsor, may contact Terry Ariano, for information about participating in this annual fundraiser. Inquiries may be made by calling 855-3459 during normal business hours. Additional information may be found on the Resource Center website at:http://pawlinresroucecenter.org
