UPDATE: State police are looking for two people in the Neversink River

August 19, 2018, state police along with other agencies resumed the search for a father and son that were rafting on the Neversink River on August 18, 2018. The search today met with negative results. The search is suspended for the night and will resume tomorrow morning, August 21, 2018 at approximately 7:30 a.m.

On Saturday morning,  August 18, 2018, State Police along with numerous area fire rescue squads responded to a report of two subjects in distress in the Neversink River.  Initial reports indicated that a 46-year-old man and his 9-year-old son had entered the river near the Oakland Valley Campground before being swept downstream.  The father and son were last seen by Oakland Valley Campground when their raft overturned in the Neversink River. Aviation, Underwater Recovery Team, drones, and multiple airboats deployed. Subjects unable to be located. The search is suspended for the night due to weather and river conditions. Search to resume on August 19, 2018, at 7:30 a.m.
