Annual DCC Sing-a-Thon/Play-a-Thon is Aug. 4

July 26, 2018 – The annual Sing-a-Thon/Play-a-Thon hosted by the Music School at Dutchess Community College will be held Saturday, Aug. 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the James and Betty Hall Theatre on the main DCC campus in Poughkeepsie. The Music School is part of the College’s Office of Community Services.

The event – at which DCC students, faculty and community members of all ages, levels and musical styles perform – benefits the MusicLink Scholarship Fund, which provides free or low-cost music lessons to local students who otherwise could not afford them. While attendance is free, tax-deductible donations to MusicLink will gladly be accepted at the door. The event also will feature a 50/50 raffle.

The eclectic recital will feature pieces performed on piano, guitar, bass, violin, cello, ukulele and other instruments, as well as vocal soloists and DCC’s Intergenerational Women’s Choir.

In addition to fundraisers such as the Sing-a-Thon/Play-a-Thon, MusicLink is supported by funding from long-time DCC benefactor Allyn J. Washington, The Bentley Fund and the Kanter Kallman Foundation.
