Cortlandt man arrested for DWI and felony drug possession following a traffic stop

PRESS RELEASE

Cortlandt, New York – On July 4, 2018, the New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks arrested Akintunde Akinleye, age 30, of Cortlandt, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, a class B felony, Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 5th degree, a class B misdemeanor, and Driving While Intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor.

On July 4, 2018, at approximately 3:20 a.m., Troopers conducted a vehicle and traffic stop on a 2015 BMW on Lockwood Road in the town of Cortlandt for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law.  An investigation found the operator, Akinleye, was driving while intoxicated, and subsequently arrested.  Further investigation found Akinleye possessed approximately 15 grams of cocaine and over 40 grams of marijuana.

Akinleye was arraigned before the town of Cortlandt Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or bond.  Akinleye is next scheduled to appear before the Court on July 9, 2018, at 9:00 a.m.
