Obituary, Robert F. Walsh Sr.

Clinton Corners – Robert F. Walsh Sr., known to many as “Bob”, passed away on Friday, June 29th at his home in Clinton Corners. He was 90 years old. Originally a resident of Poughkeepsie, he was born on June 4th 1928 and was the son of Robert V. Walsh and Dorothy A. Zeleznik.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1948 and was subsequently employed with Daystrom, IBM and the IBEW, Local 363 where he worked for over 20 years until his retirement in 1990 at age 62.

Robert was an avid train and model railroad enthusiast, holding a membership in the Hudson Valley Railroad Society. His other interests included photography and films. Robert was also a devout parishioner of St. Peter’s Church.

Known as a master of many trades, Robert had countless areas of expertise, such as carpentry, plumbing, and mechanical work. Most of all, he was charitable and selfless. He will be remembered for his continuous generosity and above all the extraordinary love for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The oldest of 7 siblings, Robert is survived by his brothers; Joseph Walsh, Frank Walsh and Vincent Walsh, his children; Robert F. Walsh Jr. and Dorothy Robbins, grandchildren; Lisa Tevnan and spouse, ReneeĀ“ Wilkinson and spouse, Lyndsay Robbins and Thomas Robbins and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Dorothy Anne Walsh and brothers; Thomas Walsh and John Walsh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated July 6, 2018, 10 am at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 185 Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 with a burial to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.
