Dover man arrested for rape of a child

PRESS RELEASE

Carmel, New York – On June 26, 2018, the New York State Police from the Brewster barracks arrested Anthony E. Barrera Ramirez, age 21, of Dover, NY, for Rape in the 1stdegree, a class B felony, Rape in the 2nd degree, Sexual Abuse in the 1st degree, both class D felonies, Forcible Touching, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, both class A misdemeanors.

On June 25, 2018, allegations of sexual assault were reported to the State Police.  An investigation found Barrera Ramirez began having conversations with a 13-year-old on a social media application.  The conversations became sexual in nature, and Barrera Ramirez was able to entice the victim to send inappropriate photographs.  Barrera Ramirez then had sexual contact with the 13-year-old victim over a period of several months.  Including an incident in which Barrera Ramirez broke into the victim’s home, and committed forcible rape.

Barrera Ramirez was arraigned before the town of Carmel Court, and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $150,000 cash bail or $300,000 bond.  His next scheduled appearance before the Court is on July 10, 2018, at 6:00 p.m.
