Newburgh man arrested on drug charges

PRESS RELEASE

Newburgh, New York – On June 26, 2018 the New York State Police Troop F Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET), Uniform members of the New York State Police in conjunction with the City of Newburgh Police Department conducted a narcotics investigation which resulted in the execution of a search warrant at 253 South Williams Street Newburgh, NY. The search warrant resulted in the arrest of Sheldon L. Tompson, 33 years of age.  Following the search of this address, police seized approximately 16 grams of crack cocaine, 17 grams of powder cocaine, approximately 5 grams of heroin and 8 ounces of marijuana.  Tompson was charged with the following Criminal charges:

Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (2 Counts) – Felony, Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree – Felony,
Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia (3 Counts)– Misdemeanor
Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the Fourth Degree – Misdemeanor

Tompson was arraigned in the City of Newburgh Court and remanded into the custody of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in lieu of $50,000.00 cash or $50,000.00 secured bond to return at a later date.

This arrest was the result of a coordinated effort by the New York State Police -Troop F and members of the City of Newburgh Pd.  The New York State Police and City of Newburgh Police were assisted at the scene by the City of Newburgh Fire Department and City of Newburgh Code Enforcement Office.
