Obituary, Susan Liskey

Susan Liskey, 75, died peacefully at her home in Millbrook on June 9, 2018.  Susan grew up in Millerton NY, the third child of Anna and Bill Gormley.  She attended Webutuck High School and then earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the College of St Rose.  Thereafter, Susan pursued a varied and distinguished career as an educator touching the lives of countless students, families, and colleagues along the way.  After expanding her background with a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Portland, Oregon, Susan held several teaching and counseling positions in the Hyde Park Central School District, Dutchess County BOCES, the Spackenkill School District and Marist College.

Susan ultimately lost her battle with Lupus but won the hearts of numerous friends and family over a full and impressive life.  Susan was predeceased by John, the love of her life.  She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth, son-in-law Mark, her siblings Peter and Ginger, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Susan will always be remembered and cherished for her humor, her kindness, her love of family, and her fierce determination in the face of adversity.   She is, and always will be, greatly missed.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 15, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at 3270 Franklin Ave, Millbrook, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place the following day, Saturday, at 10am at St. Joseph’s in Millbrook.

Memorial donations may be made in Susan’ s memory to St Joseph’s Church in Millbrook or to “Water for the World”, the Marist College fund benefiting Ghana (details on how to donate are available at the Funeral Home).
