Obituary, Eunice H. Drewsen

 


Eunice H. Drewsen, age 83, was born into eternal life on Friday, April 6 at her home in Palm City, Florida. She was surrounded by her children, her dog and her friend Peg Ryan.

She is survived by her children: Karla Drewsen, Edmond T. Drewsen, III (Debra), and her grandchildren: Jonathan Drewsen (Kali) and Elise (Drewsen) Zielicke (Jeremiah). She is predeceased by her husband: Edmond T. Drewsen, Jr. and her siblings: Morton Hull, Lyman Hull, and Katharine Hull.

Eunice, of Winnetka, IL, resided for much of her adult life in Greenwich, Ct. She received her bachelor’s degree from Vassar College (1978) when she returned to complete the last two years of her degree. Eunice was a mother, an active volunteer, a gourmet cook, an antiques collector and a small business owner, starting her own needlework store, Thimbles of Greenwich. She was the manager of the school bus for private schools in Greenwich when her children were young. She was involved in the Campaign for Literacy. Eunice was an avid gardener, growing a very successful vegetable garden each year. She loved her flowers. She grew prize-winning roses and daffodils. She was an active member of Green Fingers Garden Club in Greenwich, CT, until she left Connecticut. She loved to travel and made as many trips as possible with her husband or dear friends. Eunice worked hard with her two beloved Tibetan terriers, Nairn and Angus, in both obedience and agility training. The three of them were quite a team. Eunice was also a very talented basket maker, creating almost 100 Nantucket lightship baskets. She was also a beautiful needle worker, creating many very lovely items.

After moving to Florida she spent a great deal of time playing golf, volunteering and training her best buddy Lochie, a dear black miniature poodle. She also volunteered at the Martin County Council on Aging Thrift Store. She and Lochie worked in nursing homes as a therapy dog team and in the schools with Paws To Read.

Eunice is a member of Christ Church on Quaker Hill in Pawling NY.

A celebration of her life will be held at Christ Church on Quaker Hill on Saturday, July 14th at 11:30 a.m. donations in her name may be made to the Scholarship program at Sandhill Cove Palm City, Florida, the Florida Humane Society, or Treasure Coast Hospice.
