Democratic Political Groups In Putnam & Westchester Endorse Pete Harckham

Initial Endorsements Indicate Rapid Momentum for Growing Winning Coalition

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – June 7, 2018 – Four Democratic Party political groups in Putnam and Westchester counties have endorsed Democratic candidate and former Westchester County Legislature Majority Leader Pete Harckham in the race against Republican incumbent State Senator Terrence Murphy.

The Mount Kisco Democratic Committee and Somers Democratic Town Committee last night endorsed Harckham, and the Pound Ridge Democratic Committee reversed an earlier endorsement of another candidate and endorsed Harckham on Tuesday. In addition, on Monday thePutnam County Democratic Committee gave Harckham its co-endorsement in a united Democratic effort. These victories follow the Cortlandt Democratic Committee, which last week voted to revoke its prior endorsement of another Democratic candidate which it made prior to Harckham’s entry into the race.

“I’m so grateful for the incredible momentum our campaign has picked up after only a few weeks since our announcement,” said Harckham. “These progressive Democratic organizations represent Hudson Valley values, not Donald Trump values, and I am inspired by their decision to join with us in a coalition effort to bring a Democratic majority to the New York State Senate”.  He added, “Democrats understand that experience matters”.

These key endorsements follow last month’s backing by the Westchester-Putnam chapter of the Working Families Party.  Additional endorsements will be announced by Harckham’s campaign in the coming weeks.
