Chatham man arrested for illegal possession of firearms as a felon after discharging weapon near an apartment building

Chatham, New York – On June 2, 2018, the New York State Police from the Livingston barracks arrested Eric Humbert, age 47, of Chatham, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd degree, both class A misdemeanors, and Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, an unclassified misdemeanor.
On June 2, 2018, Troopers were dispatched to Hudson Avenue in the village of Chatham for a report of gun fire at approximately 2:30 p.m. Once on scene the suspect, Humbert, was found armed in his residence. Troopers convinced Humbert to surrender peacefully. Humbert, who is a convicted felon, was found to be in illegal possession of a Marlin 32 Special model 336 rifle, a Marlin model 60, and a 20-gauge shotgun.
Humbert was arraigned before the town of Chatham Court, and released on his own recognizance.
